Obituary of Barbara F. Tulio
Barbara F. (Petetti) Tulio, 82, of Collegeville, PA, passed away peacefully in her home on Monday, June 8, 2020, surrounded by her loving family.
Barbara was born in Philadelphia, PA, on March 2, 1938, and was the daughter of the late Carl and Frances (DiRenzo) Petetti.
She was a resident of Collegeville for 44 years, formerly of Cheltenham, PA.
Barbara was a retired kindergarten and nursery school teacher and enriched the lives of her students with her kindness, compassion and love. She was an alumna of Incarnation Parochial School, Little Flower High School and St. Joseph’s University.
Barbara lived her life devoted to faith and family. She was a devout Catholic and faithful parishioner of St. Eleanor Catholic Church for 44 years. Barbara was active in parish life at St. Eleanor's, attending daily Mass, and was a member of the Rosary Group, Prayer Group, Alpha and the Hospitality Committee. She was one of the first females to serve the parish as a eucharistic minister.
What Barbara loved most in life was spending time with her family especially when hosting Sunday dinners. Her greatest joy was cooking for her grandchildren whom she adored. She was famous for her sauce and meatballs, sausage and peppers and apple cakes. She loved her Hallmark movies, reading a good book and being down the shore. The beach was one of her favorite places. Barbara’s strong faith and love of her family sustained her as she courageously battled ovarian cancer for 17 years before her passing.
Barbara was the beloved wife of the late Louis A. "Sonny" Tulio.
She is survived by her daughter, Louise-Marie Tulio of Collegeville; son, Anthony (Teresa) Tulio of Warrington; daughter, Christine (Todd) Lovas of Gilbertsville; brother, Donald (Catherine) Petetti of Cheltenham; two sisters, Rita (Bob) Davine of Huntingdon Valley and Frances Petetti Londergan of Lansdale; sister-in-law, Mary Petetti of Doylestown and many beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Barbara is also survived by her five grandchildren: Skye Tulio, Noah Lovas, Ireland Lovas, Juliana Tulio and Stella Grace Tulio.
Along with her husband and parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her brother, Carl "Skip" Petetti Jr.
Her funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, June 12, 2020, at 12 noon in St. Eleanor Catholic Church, 647 Locust Street, Collegeville, PA 19426.
Relatives and friends may call on Friday morning from 11 to 11:45 a.m. in the church. Due to public health concerns and for the safety of all in attendance, social distancing guidelines will be followed during the visitation and Mass.
Interment will take place privately in Calvary Cemetery, West Conshohocken, PA.
