Obituary of Alice E. Brzoska

Alice "Betty" (Smith) Brzoska, 88, of Phoenixville, PA peacefully passed away Wednesday evening, January 17, 2024.  

Betty was born in Conshohocken, Pa on August 30, 1935, the daughter of the late Thomas and the late Alice (Wesley) Smith. Known to her relatives as the Booper, Betty was full of love and light, always ready with a smile and a helping hand. 

Betty is survived by her husband, Bernard Anthony Brzoska, her high school sweetheart. They were married January 21, 1956, at St. Matthew’s church in Conshohocken while Bernie was a sergeant in the Marine Corps.   

After having their fourth child and quickly growing out of their small home in Norristown, Betty and Bernie decided to build a house in what then was known as “the country.” Betty quickly transformed the new house into a beautiful family home where relatives and friends gathered to play, picnic, party, share meals, tell stories, laugh, love, and create lasting memories. The family had wonderful vacations together including a three-week trip to Disneyland and the coast of California in 1967, no hotel or car rental reservations in place, with kids ranging in age from 5 to 10.  “Never a dull moment” as Betty liked to say.     

For many years Betty worked at Arkwright/FM Global Insurance where she served as receptionist and office assistant. Her colleagues say Betty “always had a twinkle in her eye and stories to share. When you look into the evening sky and see a bright star twinkling, that will be Betty smiling down on us”.

Betty is survived by her husband Bernard Brzoska, sons Steven and David, daughters Donna and Karen, son-in-law Michael, and brother William Smith.  She also is survived by grandchildren Matthew, Christopher, David, Amber, and, great-grandchildren Samay and Gael.  

Along with her parents she was preceded in death by brothers Thomas "Smoke" Smith, John "Pete" Smith, and Donald "Butch" Smith.   

Her funeral mass will be held on Monday February 12, 2024 at 10:30 AM, at St. Matthew's RC Church, 219 Fayette Street, Conshohocken, Pa 19428. 

There will be a viewing on Monday morning February 12 from 9:30 AM to 10:15 AM at St. Matthew's Church.  

Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery, West Conshohocken, PA.
