Obituary of George Alan Greidus
George Alan Greidus
G. Alan Greidus, Sr. 83, of Conshohocken passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 14, 2024. He was reunited with the love of his life and wife of 57 years, Patricia A. (Travaglini) Greidus.
Alan was born in West Conshohocken on January 18, 1940, the son of the late Francis Phipps and the late Ruth (Shore)Phipps.
He was a proud resident of Conshohocken for over 60 years and a long-time parishioner of St. Matthew’s RC Church and the former SS. Cosmas and Damian RC Church.
For most of his working years, Alan was a Union Roofer for Local 30B. He proudly served his country in the United State Marine Corps and was selected to be a member of the US Marine Corps Silent Drill Team. He was appointed to a 2-year ceremonial tour at the Marine Barracks Washington DC and assigned to the guard platoon at Camp David during the Eisenhower administration.
Alan loved everyone and never met a stranger. He was known for his big, warm smile and easy manner. He enjoyed anything that involved his children and grandchildren. He loved music, especially the Beatles, Cats Stevens and James Taylor and playing his guitar. He had a beautiful singing voice and never gave up a chance to let you know how good it was (especially when singing Happy Birthday!)
Along with his wife and parents he was preceded in death by his beloved daughter Debra Zuccarini, infant son Christopher and brother, Dane Phipps.
Alan is survived by Daughter Cindie and Bill Dowd of Bryn Mawr, Son Alan and Kristin Greidus of Schwenksville, Brother-in-law James Travaglini of Pennsburg, Pa, and Sister-in-law Joan and Chuck Cummings of Worcester, Pa. He was the devoted Poppop to Carly, Will, Riley, Cameron, Kirsten, Courtney, Jake, and Luke.
His passing has left a hole in our hearts forever.
