Obituary of John E. Goodrich

John E. Goodrich, age 85, of Pompano Beach, FL passed away Friday, April 26, 2019.  John split his time between his children in Florida and Pennsylvania, spending winters in Pompano Beach and summers at the Shannondell community in Audubon, PA.  He was a member of Saint Coleman Catholic Church of Pompano Beach.  

He was born in North Tonawanda, NY on February 11, 1934.  John wed his high school sweetheart and their love blossomed for 66 years and continues in spirit.  John worked tirelessly to provide for his family.  He volunteered to serve his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict.  He then attended the University of Buffalo on the GI bill while working as a factory foreman.  His career started in Buffalo, NY but he advanced as he successively moved his family to Detroit, MI; Joliet, IL; Tonawanda, NY; and Cherry Hill, NJ.  John worked at Westvaco’s corporate headquarters on Park Ave, New York City, for over 25 years, and finally moved with his corporate associates to Richmond, VA.

He loved hosting family and friends, listening to golden oldies and country music, seeing plays and stage performances, and playing games and cards.  John was a passionate golfer, playing often with his wife, sons, and friends.  He also enjoyed traveling around the U.S. and over 30 other countries, savoring new experiences and always making new friends. 

Survivors include his wife, Patricia M. (nee Nowak) Goodrich; daughter, Gail (& Geoff) Johnston; son, Gary (& Elizabeth) Goodrich; son, Brian (& Laura) Goodrich; grandchildren, Courtney Johnston and Stephen Goodrich; and siblings, Nelson Goodrich and Barb Korb.  

John was preceded in death by his parents Chauncey and Gladys (Stolts) Goodrich and siblings, Glen and Jean Goodrich.                    

Relatives and friends are invited to the Visitation on Friday, May 17, 2019 from 9:30 AM to 10:45 AM at St. Andrew's Lutheran Church, 2725 Egypt Rd, Audubon, PA 19403.  John's Memorial Service will follow at 11:00 AM.  Interment will be private at a later date.
