Obituary of John Murphy
John "Jack" Murphy, age 89 years, of Conshohocken, passed away on Saturday December 29, 2018, with his loving family at his side.
John was born in Cunnaughtown, Pa on Wednesday May 22, 1929, the son of the late Edward and Marie ( Crossin ) Murphy.
Jack lived in the Conshohocken area all of his life and he was a lifelong member of St. Matthew's RC Church in Conshohocken.
He graduated from St. Matthew's High School, class of 1947. And he served in the US Navy as an Avation Electrician Mate in the Korean War.
After retiring as a Electrician with Alan Wood Steel Co., he went to work at Lee Tire Co., and Ashland Chemical Co.
He is survived by his children Dennis (& Cheryl) Murphy of Summerfield, NC, Patrick (& Veronica) Murphy of Ambler, Pa, Kathleen (& Tom) Hillegass of Cape May Court House, NJ, Maria (& George) Snear of Plymouth Meeting, Pa , Timothy (& Wendy) Murphy of Pottstown, Pa & Colleen (& Doug) Yerger of Kent, OH
He is also survived by his daughter in law Donna (& Late - Michael) Murphy of Lansdale, and 22 Grandchildren (Pop Pop) & 17 Great Grandchildren ( Pop Pop Pop).
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by sons Daniel & Michael J. Murphy, a brother James, sisters Marie (Sr. Euphrosyne) & Kate Dedig, and the mother of his children Helen.
Jack was well known for his magical tomato garden and sunflowers! An avid Philly sports fan, he enjoyed watching the Phillies and Eagles. Jack also enjoyed sitting on the front porch, doing crossword puzzles and reading. Most importantly, Dad enjoyed being surrounded by his large loving family and was always available to listen and give a helping hand.
His Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, Jan 5, 2019 at 10:30 AM at St. Matthew RC Church 219 Fayette Street, Conshohocken
There will be a viewing on Saturday morning, Jan 5 from 9:00 to 10:15 AM at the Church.
Interment will follow in St. Matthew's Cemetery
