We are deeply saddened to learn of David's passing. He was so special to all of us. I have known David since I was 9 years old. He was a great but quiet man that gave the best advise. He was very much like a dad to me and the only grandfather figure my child has ever known. He will forever be "Poppy Dave" to her. I am so very sorry for your loss. Many prayers to his family and friends.

My condolences to his family and friends. Dave and I graduated together in 1963. We also worked together at Allenwood steel company. Last time we saw one another was a few years age when I lived in Florida he and Bethanne Bailey along with John DePalma got together.

My sincerest sympathy to the Gryga family. Some of my best memories are of times spent in the family's home, when I was growing up. I'm so sorry that David is now also gone.

The first time I met David was when he and a group of other students from West Conshohocken came to Conshohocken High School in the seventh grade. He was a big guy for a seventh grader and really stood out in a crowd. I’m not sure who introduced us or how we met but I do remember that he became my first “boyfriend“ (whatever that means when you are in seventh grade) and — the first boy I ever kissed. I don’t remember how or why this childhood relationship ended but little did I suspect that it would resume over 50 years later.
As class secretary, I was diligently trying to gather names and addresses to notify the Conshohocken High School graduating class of 1963 of our upcoming 50th year reunion, when I get a Facebook message from David asking if I would like to join him for lunch. I did and we met at Redstone Grill in March 2013 where he announced, “I don’t talk very much.“ Now, any of you who knew David at alll, will know that truer words were never spoken. I assured him that was not a problem since I talked enough for both of us! He never let me forget those words for five years!
We became very close friends again, and over the past five years have shared many wonderful adventures from exploring Iceland to watching the 2017 solar eclipse from high on a mountain in North Carolina. We shared wonderful holiday moments with family. I will never forget David and my granddaughter Sammi with candy canes in their mouths and hands behind their back trying to best each other by getting the most candy canes in a bucket without touching them with their hands. I actually have video of this which I will cherish!
David was a unique individual. You could be certain that any private thoughts you shared with him would never be repeated. He was helpful, kind and very unassuming. He was dependable and thoughtful in so, so many ways. I will miss him.
