Walter has lived in Conshohocken all of his life. He was a member of St. Matthew's RC Church of Conshohocken, and a former member of St. Mary's RC Church. He graduated from St. Mary's Grade School, and Archbishop Kennedy High School. He enjoyed gardening espeically growing and giving away vegetables. and was an avid football fan.
